Baskets

In Québec, the French term for vegetable shares delivered to a partner in a CSA program is panier, or “basket”.  We like the French term, and use it interchangeably with the more frequently used “share.”

What’s in a Basket

The content of our baskets, or shares, varies from week to week.  We fill them with seasonal produce.  In 2009, in start-up mode outside the Equiterre CSA network, we produced more than 35 kinds of vegetables, many of them in 2, 3 or more varieties.  We now produce more than 50 kinds of vegetables, many of them once again in 2, 3 or more varieties, as well as berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries). Usually, quantities amount to the equivalent of 1 to 2 grocery bags per week. We will provide updates on planting, growing and harvesting happenings on our website and through weekly updates, also on our website.

Seasonality

Contents of late spring, early summer, late summer and fall baskets include selections of the following:

Trades

We determine share contents every week based on the harvest. The whole concept is to let us “share” the fruit of our labour with you, and to have you discover a broader variety of vegetables than you may otherwise select on your own.  The range of vegetables which can be grown right here in Quebec is quite large.  That being said, if you hate artichokes, we won’t force them on you!  We will always bring extra vegetables to allow you to trade those artichokes for something else.

Missed Baskets

A forgotten share is a forsaken share.  Collecting your share is your contractual engagement.  If you can, please try to make arrangements with a friend, family member or work colleague to pick it up on your behalf.
